Book A Free Consultation
A free, no-obligation conversation with someone who flies, about what you are actually trying to do. It takes about half an hour, there is nothing to pay, and there is nothing to sign at the end of it. This listing is priced at $0.00 because you are reserving time, not buying anything.
Who Books One
Some people book a discovery flight straight away. Others want to talk first. Both are reasonable, and this is for the second group: people choosing between our five flights, people buying a first flight as a gift and unsure which one fits, people who are nervous about small airplanes, parents looking into it for a teenager, and people who want honest numbers on what learning to fly would really cost before they commit to anything.
What You Will Leave With
- A straight answer on which flight suits you. One person or two, sixty minutes or ninety, downtown or the coast, a Piper or the Cirrus SR22 — or the full-motion simulator if an actual airplane feels like a step too far today.
- Real numbers on flight training, if that is why you are here. Course prices at our sister school, what sits outside course tuition — the FAA knowledge test, the examiner's fee, your medical, a headset — and a realistic timeline based on how often you could actually fly.
- A clear sequence, in the right order. Discovery flight, medical certificate, student pilot certificate, lessons, solo, cross-country and night, written exam, checkride. You will leave knowing which step is next.
- Honest answers about the awkward parts. Airsickness, fear of flying, weight limits, whether a medical condition will be a problem, whether a teenager is old enough, whether you are too old. You are not — there is no upper age limit on a pilot certificate.
How It Works
Most consultations happen in person at Van Nuys Airport (KVNY), where you can stand next to the airplanes. If you cannot get out here, we will do it by phone. Reserve a time here, or call (818) 330-1318 between 9 AM and 9 PM, seven days a week.
One Honest Note
You Fly LA flies discovery flights. We do not run certificate courses and we do not issue pilot licenses. Actual flight training at Van Nuys is done by our sister school, Essence Flight School, on the same field. If your goal is a license, a consultation is a good place to work out the path, and we will introduce you directly.
There is no closing pitch, no deposit and no follow-up sales calls you did not ask for. If flying is not the right thing for you right now, we will say so.
