Multi-Engine Discovery Flight For Two (Piper Seminole)

Sixty minutes in a twin-engine airplane, and one of you flies it. The Piper Seminole PA-44-180 is a four-seat twin with two 180-horsepower engines turning counter-rotating propellers, and it is the airplane most professional pilots earn their multi-engine rating in. Almost nobody outside professional training ever gets to fly one.

One passenger sits in the left seat with hands on the controls and a certificated multi-engine instructor beside them. The second passenger rides in the back with a headset and the same view. A third seat is available for $100 more.

A twin feels different from the first second of the takeoff roll: two engines spooling together, noticeably more acceleration, and the sense of being in a larger airplane rather than a light single. At 162 knots it also covers a lot more of Los Angeles in an hour than a trainer does.

What Is Included

Good To Know

• $499 for two people, one flying and one riding. An extra passenger is $100 more.
• Weight limit: 200 lb per passenger and 550 lb combined across everyone on board.
• Weight and balance decides seating in a four-seat twin, so tell us everyone's weight when you book.
• Bring government photo ID. No medical certificate or prior experience is required.
• The time is logged as multi-engine dual instruction received, which counts toward a multi-engine rating under 14 CFR 61.63.
• Enroll in our Multi-Engine Rating course within 24 hours and the full cost of this flight is credited toward it.
